NOTE FROM THE LITERARY OUTPOST

T he Literary Outpost is a new blog being launched by BIWG conference organizers and friends. You’ll occasionally find information specific to the conference on this site, but it also aims to be a place for folks who want to talk about the state of literature and books, writing, industry changes, publishing ideas, trends in academia, the glossies and lit-journals, the role of social conscience and moral fiction, the definitions of art--and all things literary.

What’s different about it? The Outpost is staking a claim as the place where art meets action. Where writers, bloggers, artists, activists, musicians, screenwriters, producers, teachers, students, and all other curious minds can meet online to talk about what literature is and how it pertains to our lives today.

What can literature become and inspire? What can greater communication and synergy between our worlds create? We’d sure like to find out. We’ll be an outpost on the literary frontier, offering New York, the IvoryTowers — and maybe even our political leaders — some new perspectives.

You’ll always be welcome at the Outpost.
